This time of year, the offshore fishing can be a little tricky because of the weather.  As you know, we don't have true seasons in North Florida, we just have frequent cold fronts which bring wind and rain.

This past summer was a little different from summers past.  In the spring and summer of 2017, we were seeing a large number of Amberjack off our coast but in 2018, they just didn't show up.

As the year continues to wind down, August is migration month.  The Tarpon, Sharks, Kings, Flounder and several other species all start to migrate slowly towards Northeast Florida. And the bait is thick on the beach this time of year.  That too, brings a multitude of hungry predators along with it and some very exciting fishing opportunities.  Tarpon, Kings, Bonita, Jacks can all be targeted around the Pogie pods off the beach.

The wind has been blowing all week, and this weekend will be no exception…  "at least it's not 90 degrees in the shade."  October is bull redfish month.  Those way over slot sized breeders in the high teens up to even 40 plus pounds are not uncommon.

This week we have seen a weather change, giving us signs that Fall is approaching. With the change of the season upon us we start looking to change channels with our fishing. Although there are still some kingfish around, the numbers are not what they were in previous weeks so we are starting to do more bottom fishing. Inside 25 miles red snapper are still in full force with only a few grouper around.
